November 2013 – NEW! Introducing the New RKII Series Stepper Motor and Driver Packages.

NEW! - 0.72° Stepper Motor and Driver Packages with Built-in Controller (Stored Data) Type and Pulse Input Type - RKII Series0.72° Stepper Motor and Driver Packages with Built-in Controller (Stored Data) Type and Pulse Input Type - RKII Series

The new RKII Series offers greater performance and features with a great low price.

The New RKII Series is an ideal and affordable solution for demanding requirements and is available with a built-in controller (stored data) type driver or pulse input type driver, for the same price. The RKII Series utilizes our new motor technology, reducing heat output with the motor, allowing it to run up to 104°F (40° C) cooler than the conventional stepper motors. This offers significant benefits, including 100% torque utilization with no compromise. Designed with the step angle selector, switching from 1.8° or 0.9° packages is as simple as setting the dial. For greater torque requirements, 3 new and improved geared motors are available from our TS (spur gear), our PS (planetary gear) to our HG (harmonic gear). All feature improved performance and lower pricing.

Starting from $391.85

NEW! - Built-in Controller (Stored Data) - BLE Series

Oriental Motor USA is proud to announce the addition of our new Built-in Controller (Stored Data) Type BLE Series brushless motors and driver package as part of our FLEX network products offering. The BLE Series is capable of operating from low speed to the maximum speed of 4000 r/min, even as the load condition fluctuates. When used with a hollow shaft flat gearhead, up to 600 lb-in of high permissible torque can be attained.

Functions and specifications can be further expanded when used in combination with the OPX-2A controller module or MEXE02 software (available for free download), allowing for improved speed regulation, torque limitation, programming and various display functions

Comparison of Drive Methods for a 2-Phase Motor

Q: I am looking for a driver and stepper motor combination for my application, but there are different wiring configuration schemes available. For example, there are bipolar series, bipolar parallel, and unipolar connections. I am not sure exactly what the differences are between these configurations. Could you please explain the advantage and disadvantages of each type?

A: For a 2 phase stepping motor, there are numerous wiring configurations as well as driver types available. The number of possible wiring configurations depends on the number of wires on the motor. The ideal driver type and wiring configuration would depend on the performance requirements for the motor. A unipolar driver only allows a unipolar connection with a 6-wire motor. A bipolar driver can be used with either 4, 6, and 8 wire motors, and accepts multiple wiring configurations such as bipolar series and bipolar parallel. In this article, we will go over each wiring configuration in detail and explain how they would alter the motor's performance.
