Oriental Motor's αSTEP closed loop control systems perform accurate positioning operations with ease. The αSTEP features a unique control system combining the benefits of "open loop control" and "closed loop control".

With the αSTEP control system, the position of the motor is always monitored and then the driver automatically switches between the two types of control depending on the situation. Under normal circumstances the operation of the motor is monitored and control is applied using open loop like a standard stepper motor. If an error occurs between the command and motor position due to a load or the like, the system immediately switches to closed loop control like a servo motor. This corrects the position and speed maintaining the desired operation. The combination of these two control methods ensures high reliability and performance.

A stepper motor is used to achieve precise positioning via digital control. The motor operates by accurately synchronizing with the pulse signal output from the controller to the driver. Stepper motors, with their ability to produce high torque at a low speed while minimizing vibration, are ideal for applications requiring quick positioning over a short distance.


Servo Motors

Servo Motors & Drivers

Oriental Motor offers two types of servo solutions. Tuning Free Servos products or Short Range Servo products. Both types of solutions provide closed loop control along with many other advantages.

Our Tuning Free Servos are traditional servo solutions where the encoder provides feedback to the driver and all motion is controlled through a Position Counter. Use of the limited duty region is available for short periods of time where more torque is required.

Our Short Range Servos are closed loop as well and utilize a different motor technology where as they provide maximum torque throughout their entire speed torque range without the concern of operating in the limited duty region. See the speed torque comparison below for a clear comparison. Also, our Short Range Servo driver are Network compatible.

Motors offer excellent controllability and are therefore used as the drive sources of various automated equipment. In many cases a motor is combines with various mechanical components such as a ball screw, belt and pulley, and rack and pinion to convert the motor rotation to a different type of motion needed to drive the equipment. Oriental Motor has various linear actuators consisting of a motor assembled with the necessary mechanical components to meet the various needs of automated equipment.

The DGII Series is a line of of products that combine a high rigidity hollow rotary table with a closed loop stepper motor and driver package. It retains the ease of use of a stepper motor, while also allowing for highly accurate positioning of large inertia loads.


Brushless DC Motors (BLDC Motors) & Gear Motors

Brushless DC Gear Motors

Brushless DC motors from Oriental Motor can achieve up to 970 lb-in of torque when combined with a standard geared option and with their space savings design contribute to a compact and powerful solution ranging from 15 W up to 400 W. With their flat torque, can produce rated torque from low to high speeds easily. Brushless DC motors also feature a wide variety of pre-assembled geared and electromechanical break options and are available with our industry leading stable lead times.

For applications where variable speeds are necessary, typically an AC motor with an Inverter or brush motors are used. Brushless DC motors are an advanced option due to their wide speed range, low heat and maintenance-free operation. Stepper Motors offer high torque and smooth low speed operation.

Speed is typically controlled by manual operation on the driver or by an external switch, or with an external 0~10 VDC. Speed control systems typically utilize gearheads to increase output torque. Gear types range from spur, worm or helical / hypoid depending on torque demands and budgets.


AC Motors & Gear Motors

AC Gear Motors

AC motors and gear motors include single-phase motors used with a single-phase AC power supply and three-phase motors used with a three-phase AC power supply. A single-phase motor can be operated by simply connecting it to a single-phase power supply via the supplied capacitor. A three-phase motor does not require a capacitor. All you need is to connect the motor directly to a three-phase AC power supply.

AC speed control motors and gear motors allow for the motor speed to be changed. By combining an AC motor with a dedicated control circuit speed changes can be performed. A broad lineup of AC motors & gear motors that can easily be used for speed control is available.

Oriental Motor offers a wide range of heat measure products centered on cooling fans to meet many diverse requirements. Our Axial Fans included large size and small sizes, long life versions and alarms. Our Centrifugal Blowers feature large static pressure and concentrated air flow. Our Cross Flow Fans feature a wide, uniform airflow and our Enclosure Fans are available in both suction and exhaust type.

Oriental Motor offers industrial network communication products under the FLEX concept, meaning each product is equipped with an interface that connects to various industrial networks and master controllers featuring I/O; such as PLC, HMI or serial communication such as RS-485 / Modbus (RTU).

FLEX is the generic name for products that are used for Factory Automation (FA) network control via I/O control, Modbus (RTU) control, or a network converter. FLEX products enable easy connection, easy control, and reduce the complexity of system configuration.
